About the Role
Charrette Management Group (CMG), a leading Owner's Representative and Construction Management firm, is seeking a Junior Project Manager (Assistant Owner's Representative) to support the construction and buildout of luxury retail environments on behalf of key clients.
Working closely with Project Managers, you will assist in advocating for the owner’s interests throughout design, permitting, and construction. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional looking to develop their skills in luxury retail project delivery, vendor coordination, budget tracking, and site management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Support & Administration
Assist lead Project Managers across all project phases, including pre-construction, design review, permitting, and final closeout.
Maintain master project documentation, including drawing logs, submittals, RFIs, change order requests, and meeting minutes.
Design & Quality Control Support
Coordinate architectural, engineering, and MEP drawing sets for team review.
Participate in regular site visits and walkthroughs to assist with quality control, monitoring luxury finish standards (millwork, stone, lighting, and custom fixtures).
Assist in generating and tracking punch list items to ensure complete project closeout.
Stakeholder & Procurement Tracking
Track FF&E, millwork, and specialty vendor lead times against store opening timelines.
Coordinate scheduling for weekly Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and prepare project progress updates.
Support contract administration and contractor bidding processes (GMP, lump sum, CM-at-risk).
Financial & Logistical Controls
Help review and process contractor pay applications, invoices, and expense tracking against project budgets.
Assist in monitoring master project schedules and identifying potential timeline risks.
Qualifications
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in construction project management, architecture, interior design, or general contracting (retail or commercial experience preferred).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related design field.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Smartsheet, Excel, Google Workspace).
Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of construction sequencing, architectural drawings, and landlord/tenant coordination.
Core Competencies: Excellent organizational skills, acute attention to detail regarding luxury finishes, and strong written/verbal communication skills.
